Counter Culture hosts nonprofit events for our beloved community to convene outside of nightlife and without the influence of substances.
These community-run social gatherings are used to introduce health and wellness initiatives and play a significant role in addressing the disparities faced by Black and Latino queer individuals by providing culturally relevant, supportive environments where they can access resources and build strong social bonds. The impact of community-run gatherings in the Black and Latino queer community on health and wellness outcomes is significant.
These gatherings create inclusive, culturally relevant support networks that address mental health, chronic disease management, HIV prevention, and substance abuse recovery. By fostering peer support, promoting education, and providing access to health services in safe spaces, such systems help mitigate the disparities that Black and Latino queer individuals face, improving both individual and community-wide health outcomes.
